This is the newest page of the website and it is appropriately named 'Dave's Doozies' which is a listing and overview of the worst shows that we have ever done in the 17 years we have been doing events. Links to my reviews will be provided, so you can read more. The first entry shall be the show which we have just completed
Jefferson County Fair, Madras, OR July 22-25, 2009. Fairgrounds. 9 merchandise vendors and maybe a dozen food. Booths located in an obscure part of the fair with a field of cow pies in front. Sold $85, $85 and $87 the first three days. Booth fee $200 and $120 for RV Parking for 6 days. Very poor access to area. Pathway near gate leading into fair is blocked and not accessible. Small area between booths in adjacent row inadequate. NP Booth with bales of hay stretched across. Was told by fair not to let anybody through there. No lighting in field where visitors have to cross over to booths. No traffic flow at all. Events and food on other side of the fair. Read the review for more info. Vendor co-ordinator to be elected to the Starving Vendors Bitter Business Bureau.
EOS Winery Craft Fair, Paso Robles, CA. Oct 18-19, 2008. What the hell are we doing here. This is one of Mike Knapp's shows and I had heard that a good number of people had done well here in the past. The June show was pretty good. However, something happened and the October event was a complete bomb and one of our worst shows ever. Long drive, not much money, strong winds, etc. Waste of time; waste of money; waste of gas; waste of patience.
Central Valley Pizza Festival, Lemoore, CA. April 19-20, 2008. This festival was located approx 45 miles from Fresno. We had to spend a couple night's in a motel about 40 miles away. Only six vendors here along with 35 other booths. That says a lot about the show. Spaces were 15 feet wide, but I think they made them that size to take up space and make it look larger. Good weather but nobody buying. Kids skateboarding out of control all over the place. Nobody interested in buying anything. Pizza? Dominos, Boston.... Oh gosh.
