| FAVORITE PLACES TO EAT. ![]() I love doing shows down on the Central Coast. Such a lovely area. One of my all-time favorite places to eat has to be Giovanni's down there on the Wharf in Morro Bay. I love the Halibut & Chips and whenever we are in the area we always stop by here and pick up some food and then drive over to the Bay or the Ocean nearby and eat. The food is great here and the line's can get long. There are many good events in the area such as the Arroyo Grande Strawberry Festival, Pismo (car shows, etc), Morro Bay (Harbor Festival, Street Faire's) and others. |
| CHANDLER OSTRICH FESTIVAL REMEMBERING CHANDLER This year's festival will take place from March 12-14 at Tumbleweed Park in Chandler, AZ
![]() We last did this event in 2007, a year after torrential rains flooded the area where the booths were located. We liked doing this event because we combined it with a trip to the Trade Shows over in Vegas along with selling at another event. We have phased this show out of our schedule due to high costs associated with it and the fact that our sales had decreased. It was always a fun trip for us which we did in our motor home. Ate at the best buffets while in Las Vegas - Bellagio, Paris, Mandalay Bay, Mirage. Expensive, but the food was absolutely delicious. We traveled a long way to do the Ostrich Festival, as did many other vendors. In 2006, I could never have imagined the torrential downpours on Saturday that would have led to this mess. We arrived at the festival on Thursday afternoon and set up our canopy. The Phoenix area had experienced a drought lasting 145 days. It began raining during Friday evening and the downpour continued until early Sunday morning. We waited it out all day Saturday remaining in the motor home, listening to the pitter-patter of the raindrops on the roof and watching vehicles attempt to slosh through the mud in front of us. Occasionally, I walked over to our space and pushed the water off the top of the sagging canopy. Before leaving our space on Friday evening, I had looked around the area and noticed that the ground was quite hard and we were located in a gulley, which was bad news if you had heavy rains. I knew it was going to flood, so I moved many of our things off the ground and up onto tables, etc. You know, the promoter's of this event really screwed up. They had forecasts of rain all throughout the week and had the chance to re-locate the booths up on higher ground, but they didn't do it. Brown Amusements had their carnival rides there and I am sure they didn't want all the vendor booths near their rides. The event is now run by a different promoter. There were many problems associated with the former promoter's and I address this in other locations in my websites and blogs.
